Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist

Parkwest Pet Clinic is a small animal practice in the westend of Edmonton, Alberta that is looking to welcome a full time/part time Tech Assistant/Receptionist to join our wonderful team We strive to maintain a work-life balance, and light-hearted yet professional work environment. Job duties for the Tech Assistant/Receptionist:

Restrain for physical exams, giving medications, IV catheter placement, urinary catheters, venipuncture and much more
Ensure patient care by providing a comfortable, clean and safe environment.
Provide food and water to patients, take them for walks when appropriate
Complete cleaning tasks within the hospital
Disinfect exam rooms and tables, clean supplies and instruments
Wrap surgical packs to be sterilized
Maintaining an organized and tidy work space to keep our hospital running as efficiently as possible
Stock cupboards and drawers with appropriate supplies, towels, blankets, etc.
Providing information/education on pet nutrition, parasite prevention, treatments/services, pet insurance and veterinary exclusive products
Check in patients for their procedure and appointments by properly labeling their location and record appropriate information

Requirements for this position:

Open to being cross trained within the clinic between assisting in the treatment area and performing reception duties
Ability to multitask and complete duties thoroughly and in a timely manner
Must be physically prepared to assist with lifting patients and supplies when needed
High School Diploma or equivalent
Previous experience within a reception role, a veterinary practice or within an animal care role not required but preferred
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal
Be positive, professional and compassionate with coworkers and patients
Must be comfortable to work with dogs and cats of all temperaments and sizes
