Position Summary:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and implement grants and agreements management processes of large and/or collaborative external research programs (e.g. provincial, federal, international) to ensure delivery of funding programs to researchers across campus.
  • Provide information and guidance to researchers on existing or potential large and/or collaborative funding opportunities within assigned areas or sectors of responsibility.
  • Work with the appropriate Technology Transfer and Industry Liaison managers to ensure that agreements have the appropriate research and commercialization terms.
  • Assess and obtain approval for internal resources to support collaborative projects.
  • Organize and plan site visits by external agencies for the review of large grants.
  • Facilitate the postaward management process with external sponsors and internally at McGill. Work with the Awards Management team in the Office of Sponsored Research regarding postaward issues. As required, communicate with partners to ensure the proper management of awarded and committed funds.
  • As necessary, assume responsibility for planning, developing, editing, and disseminating project reports, presentations, and other project information and communications.
  • Provide activity and other special reports as well as analysis within the assigned areas or sectors of responsibility on a regular basis.
  • Assume other responsibilities or tasks related as needed to support the research activities of academic staff.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

Five years of related experience, preferably at a large, research-intensive university. Experience in budgeting and project management. Expert knowledge in provincial, federal, and/or international major funding opportunities and collaborative projects. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in French and English. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment. Proven ability to work and achieve objectives within a complex policy and procedure framework.

(MPEX Grade 05) $65, $81, $98,240.00
