As a corporate underwriting advisor, you help prevent, accept and reject risks based on established underwriting policies.
You advise and assist clients and partners as part of intervention and development initiatives. You recommend solutions to improve or optimize standards, policies and programs. Your projects and initiatives require extensive knowledge of your line of work.
You prepare recommendations, solutions and action plans based on the organization's objectives and priorities. You help solve complex problems using your analytical skills and extensive knowledge of the line of business. Coordination is critical, so you frequently interact with stakeholders working in other fields. Interpersonal savvy is therefore essential.
General Information on the Position
Main responsibilities- Participate in the development and delivery of underwriting training programs, contextual help texts and communications to agents and underwriters Recommend changes in terms of underwriting, insurance coverage, product offering, insurance documentation and adaptation of the system, including determining a scope, gather relevant information, analyze and interpret the results, identify and evaluate the various solutions- Ensure efficient progress and execution of assigned mandates, taking into account priorities and the organization's project management practices- Identify and promote beneficial opportunities in terms of claims experience, service quality, operating costs and growth- Support and advise, as a resource person, partners in other areas of the organization, including actuarial department- Maintain the best possible communication and close collaboration with colleagues in other regions and key partners, especially with Personal Lines for alignment and propose improvement in our processes- Participate in the audit and quality control programs- Develop documentation required by regulatory authorities for approval- Represent Desjardins on external committees.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a related field
- A minimum of 5 years of commercial automobile underwriting experience in auto for Ontario, Atlantic and Western Regions
Specific knowledge- Proficient using Word, Excel and Power Point- Knowledge of PCS Auto system preferred- Knowledge of Commercial Auto workflow and processes- Knowledge of Personal Lines auto- Complete proficiency in English- Upper intermediate knowledge of French (an asset)
