Position Information:


In addition to being part of the UOHI Psychology team, the incumbent will also be connected to an accomplished, collegial, and vibrant group of The Ottawa Hospital Psychology (TOH) staff, who are actively involved in clinical service, research, teaching and training.

UOHI Psychologists are actively involved in TOH Psychology¿s CPA accredited predoctoral internship program in Clinical Psychology.

Psychologists also have academic appointments with the School of Psychology at the University of Ottawa and supervise doctoral level practicum students.

Psychologists are provided opportunity to participate in professional development opportunities, including Psychology Lunch and Learn activities. Early career psychologists can participate in a mentorship group.

As highly valued members of the UOHI team, Psychologists are often involved in program and UOHI corporate initiatives to enhance patient care.

As a member of the interprofessional team, the psychologist will provide assessment, consultation and treatment to patients with opportunities exist for program evaluation, program development and research.


Rotation/Shifts:

Basic Requirements:


  • Doctorate from a clinical psychology program accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or the American Psychological Association (APA);
  • Completion of a CPA or APA accredited internship;
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario with declared competencies in Clinical and Health Psychology or Rehabilitation Psychology;
  • Experience conducting comprehensive psychodiagnostic assessments and treatment in medical patients with comorbid psychological conditions;
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise/lead/coach/mentor;
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in an interprofessional setting;
  • Superior written, verbal and presentation skills;
  • Superior interpersonal skills;
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada;
  • Proficiency in English and French oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).


Language proficiency requirements are based on the nature of the position and the level of interaction with French and English-speaking clients.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in clinical program development and program evaluation;
  • Experience with patients with Cardiovascular disease;
  • Experience in group therapy;
  • Demonstrated research record of productivity including publications and presentations;
  • Experience with grant writing.
