The Customs Business Analyst role is to ensure CTC's compliance with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and Customs Border Protection (CBP) import and/or regulations.

The Business Analyst is responsible for the Customs operational and regulatory compliance.

Determined by managers, decisions around work location will be made based on business and team needs and grounded in a desire to support individual well-being and personal needs.

What you'll do

  • Liaise with Marketing and Buying Teams to provide Customs expertise on current and proposed imported and/or exported products from Canada

eg:
duty rates, tariff treatments, PGA requirements, eManifest requirements.

  • Evaluate, analyze and assign applicable HS codes to new and existing products.
  • Update and maintain Customs system product file ensuring that information is complete and accurate.
  • Research, analyze and compile business case to support maximum duty reductions.
  • Manage, validate, and process high volume of data and/or documentation; ensuring that all legislative requirements are met.
  • Provide customs expertise to various levels of the corporation.
  • Country of Origin validation for all new products.
  • Work with internal and external auditors or consultants to ensure Customs regulatory compliance.
  • Initiate, develop and implement internal Customs audit processes and reporting.
  • Initiate, develop and implement internal SOPs as required.
  • Manage time and prioritize workload.

What you bring

  • 35 years' experience in a Customs role

ie:
Rater, Business Analyst

  • Must have strong working knowledge of Customs requirements associated with importation
  • Knowledge / experience with Customs systems, rulings, Customs Self Assessment (CSA).
  • Solid understanding of Valuation, Tariff Treatments, SIMA, etc.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical and communication skill.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within Government departments
  • Competent in Excel/Word; Access an asset.
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation
  • Canadian International Freight Forwarders (CIFFA) designation would be considered an asset
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Comfortable working toward multiple deadlines at the same time.
