Description

Purpose:


The Financial Analyst is responsible for the monthly and yearly accounting functions for payroll-related costs and financial accounting pertaining to the general ledger and payroll transactions, payroll accounts, bank reconciliation, and completing year-end balancing for T4/T4A slips.

This includes but is not limited to analysis, validation, reconciliations, preparation, journal entries, and ensuring all related tasks are processed in a timely manner.

The Financial Analyst also acts as a main contact and support for internal/external audit processes and all forms of communications with government agencies, internal stakeholders, and the payroll team to investigate and address related accounting discrepancies accordingly.


Education:

Post-secondary education in accounting and finance
Completion of professional designation with National Payroll Institution (NPI).


Experience:

Minimum 3-5 years in an accounting environment with a degree of high-level responsibilities


Skills:

Knowledge
Advanced knowledge of accounting principles i.e., Payroll Accounting, balance sheet accounts, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
Knowledge of Finance and Payroll/HR systems integrations, Peoplesoft.
Advanced computer skills including Excel, Peoplesoft.


Skills:

Highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical, and reasoning skills.
Ability to prioritize and effectively manage time and varying deadlines.
A proven team player who possesses initiative and can work independently with mínimal supervision.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

High standards of business and ethical value with the ability to act with diplomacy and tact pertaining to confidential information and in all forms of communication.


Additional Notes:

Work within the Payroll and Records Team in an open environment.
Work within the office a maximum of two days per week.

Compensation:


York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.

Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
