This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join a dynamic finance and accounting team as
Assistant Controller, supporting diverse operations.


Key Responsibilities:

Accounting and Financial Reporting_

  • Performance of monthly accounting closings for owned and managed operations across multiple business segments
  • Preparation and analysis of financial statements to provide management with a basis for measuring business performance and financial position
  • Perform sensitivity and financial impact analyses to monitor and evaluate businesses' financial performance
  • Assist in assessment of proposed business transactions, projects and strategies
  • Present financial results of operations with budget variance and other analysis, including insights from trends and market comparative analysis
  • Constant monitoring, evaluation and troubleshooting of accounting systems, including consulting with users and SaaS providers
  • Preparation of yearend audit working papers and draft financial statements

Budgeting_

  • Coordinate with and assist business managers in the preparation of annual operating, capital and other business budgets and goals
  • Facilitate financial planning, revenue projections and expense monitoring to aid management teams in achieving goals;

Audit & Internal Control_

  • Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining procedures to ensure efficient and accurate reporting of information required to support financial reporting, tax and regulatory compliance, as well as financial planning
  • Assist in the implementation and coordination of internal audit testing and reporting

Education/Skills & Experience Required:


  • Must have postsecondary degree in finance/business and possess a formal CPA accounting designation or in process of qualifying
  • 25 years' experience in a finance function with a range of accounting and reporting responsibilities
  • Advanced IT competency with emphasis on MS Excel and ERP system
  • Superior collaborative skills to maximize results while working with Finance team members and operational managers across diverse businesses
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within Ontario and to the USA
