Position Summary:


Reporting to the Statutory Director, Fuels; the Regional Supervisor will be responsible for Region 3 (Peel North/South, Toronto West/Central, Halton North/South).

The Regional Supervisor promotes public safety and maintains effective customer relations with the fuels industry (fuel oil, natural gas, propane and petroleum sectors) by providing human resources, regulatory compliance and technical leadership to a regional team of inspectors in the delivery of public safety services.


Responsibilities:


  • Promoting a healthy and safe workplace by ensuring program area compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act; ensures a healthy and safe workplace by executing the program's OHS priorities; implementing risk control plans; leading team discussions to enhance individual and team effectiveness at working safely; demonstrating healthy and safe behaviour and promoting others to do the same
  • Providing ongoing coaching, leadership and mentoring to the team
  • Successful delivery of the Fuel Safety Inspection Program in the assigned Region(s) by enhancing public safety through investigating incidents and public complaints relating to program inspection services for fuel oil, natural gas, propane and petroleum sectors; identifying appropriate action to prevent reoccurrence including issuance of legal orders: gathering evidence, preparing prosecution cases, and providing expert witness testimony for TSSA and other regulators such as the Ministry of Labour, Office of the Fire Marshal, and The Ontario Coroner's Office.
  • Achieves program results in support of corporate objectives by communicating the organization's vision and priorities; providing team leadership and direction; monitoring team performance results against established operations and productivity criteria
  • Ensures a positive image of the company and maintains effective relationships by providing timely information to customers; building credibility with key external and internal stakeholders; educating industry personnel and the public, building employee commitment; communicating TSSA's corporate values; and adhering to and promoting ethical business practices.
  • Achieves financial objectives by forecasting functional requirements; participating in the preparation of an annual program budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions; analyzing and recommending information and trends for program management decision making; and ensuring financial performance in accordance with budget parameters
  • Ensures customer service excellence by ensuring that established service levels and standards are consistently adhered to; leading commitment to quality service; monitoring service results; and representing the company to customers.
  • Creates and maintains a workplace environment conducive to a high performing team by recruiting, selecting, orienting; promoting knowledge management and sharing;
  • Developing and encouraging personal growth opportunities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and as required disciplining employees in a fair and equitable manner.
  • This position involves travelling.

Job Requirements:


  • At least 7 years of relevant experience
  • Previous leadership experience leading a team, coaching, mentoring, development of others
  • College Diploma / Certification, University Degree or past relevant work experience
  • OBT 1 Certificate of Qualification or G1 Certificate of Qualification is preferred
  • Liquid Fuels Certification: PM1, 2, 3 is preferred
  • Effective communication, influencing and presentation skills
  • Relationship building and managing
  • Customer service excellence
  • Project/priority management experience. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred
  • Business acumen (e.g., planning, financial management)
  • Intermediate computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Suite)
  • Knowledge of TSSA Act, Regulations and Codes and Standards applicable to Fuel Safety.
