Central City Brewers and Distillers is a craft brewery in the business of developing and selling international award-winning premium craft beer and high-quality distilled spirits brewed without compromise.

Based in Surrey, British Columbia, CCBD was voted Canada Best Brewery of the Year in 2010 and 2012. Its Red Racer brand has become a cult icon among craft beer enthusiasts throughout North America.

Founded in 2003 as a brewpub and liquor store in downtown Surrey, CCBD celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2013 with the grand opening of a brand new, 68,000 sq.

ft. brewery and distillery on Bridgeview Drive. In 2019 we opened a 40,000 sq. ft. storage facility with approximately 2000 barrels of whiskey ageing in this facility. We are proud of being a local-Canadian Brewery that is currently expanding.


JOB SUMMARY


The
Controller reports to the CFO and is responsible for helping in managing a team of finance professionals in the accounting operations of the company to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Payroll, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
  • Cash Management
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
  • Assist FP&A in preparing budgets and forecasts
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Manage monthend and yearend close process
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
  • Manage and comply with provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Additional controller duties as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS/DESIRED ATTRIBUTES

  • Proven working experience as a Financial controller or in a similar capacity
  • 7+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • Advanced degree in Accounting
  • CPA or CMA a must, MBA an asset
  • A strong business and financial background, and the ability to make sound decisions in the field
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with creating financial statements and management scorecards
  • Experience with general ledger functions, complicated reconciliations, and the monthend/year end close process
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills; Experience with SAP an asset
  • Excellent business communication skills; Must be able to communicate financial information into sound business language so people of all levels can understand
  • Costing accounting experience an asset
  • Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills
  • Advanced computer skills, specifically in Excel. Programming and/or VBA skill an asset
