NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Established in 1979, Toro Aluminum has became a leader in the development and manufacturing of window walls and doors for high-rise condominiums, office buildings and hotels, across Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

REPORTING
The Assistant Shipping Supervisor reports to the Shipping Supervisor and/or Production Manager of Protemp Glass.

He or she is responsible for managing the operations and quality of the department, focusing on continuous improvement of product and service quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities with other departments/stakeholders.
Determine shipping priorities and assign work to the department based on delivery requirements.
Organize and direct the loading/unloading of material at the factory and the job site.
Prepare production and other reports where required.
Attend and contribute to production meetings.
Ensure the Production Manager is informed daily about quality, quantity, personnel, safety and any other issues that require immediate attention.
Undertake projects as assigned by the Production Manager to improve the operation.
Train and evaluate employees in job duties, safety procedures and company policies.
Investigate and deal with personnel issues. Administrator progressive disciplinary action, when required.
Maintain a safe working environment. Ensure safety rules and regulations are followed. Ensure protective gear is worn as required.
Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

35 years related experience in a shipping department of a manufacturing facility. Experience in a high volume environment is preferred.
Knowledge of legal requirements as well as shipping methods, procedures and practices.
Experience managing 3rdparty logistics providers.
Demonstrate leadership, problem solving, coaching, technical skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and process oriented skills.
Experience in dealing with personnel issues and issuing progressive discipline.
Ability to influence others and effectively work in a team.
Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
