NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

Established in 1979, Toro Aluminum has became a leader in the development and manufacturing of window walls and doors for high-rise condominiums, office buildings and hotels, across Canada, the United States, and Mexico.


REPORTING
The Assistant Shipping Supervisor reports to the Shipping Supervisor and/or Production Manager of Protemp Glass.

He or she is responsible for managing the operations and quality of the department, focusing on continuous improvement of product and service quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities with other departments/stakeholders.
  • Determine shipping priorities and assign work to the department based on delivery requirements.
  • Organize and direct the loading/unloading of material at the factory and the job site.
  • Prepare production and other reports where required.
  • Attend and contribute to production meetings.
  • Ensure the Production Manager is informed daily about quality, quantity, personnel, safety and any other issues that require immediate attention.
  • Undertake projects as assigned by the Production Manager to improve the operation.
  • Train and evaluate employees in job duties, safety procedures and company policies.
  • Investigate and deal with personnel issues. Administrator progressive disciplinary action, when required.
  • Maintain a safe working environment. Ensure safety rules and regulations are followed. Ensure protective gear is worn as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 35 years related experience in a shipping department of a manufacturing facility. Experience in a high volume environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements as well as shipping methods, procedures and practices.
  • Experience managing 3rdparty logistics providers.
  • Demonstrate leadership, problem solving, coaching, technical skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and process oriented skills.
  • Experience in dealing with personnel issues and issuing progressive discipline.
  • Ability to influence others and effectively work in a team.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
