The Opportunity
We are looking for a contract Safety Coordinator to work out of our field site in Fort St. John, BC for a year long project.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide safety support throughout the company
  • Works with the safety team to deliver a consistent approach to safety and its processes companywide
  • Implement and monitor corporate safety policies and procedures
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings
  • Present orientations and training internal staff and contractors as required
  • Conduct shop and yard inspections
  • Assist in safety program development and continual improvement
  • Incident and case management investigations
  • Manage WCB claims
  • Prepare and maintain HSE reports and recommend appropriate actions
  • Track certifications, tickets and qualifications of employees
  • Other duties assigned by the Safety Coordinator

Requirements:


  • Minimum 5 years of full time safety work in the oil & gas, mechanical construction/fabrication or manufacturing industry
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Experienced First Aider
  • NCSO designation or higher would be an asset
  • CSTS 09/2020 or Energy Safety Canada Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
  • Standard First Aid w/CPR (level A or C, 2day course)
  • H2S Alive


  • Ground Disturbance level

  • Have a valid driver's license (min. class 5)
  • Being able to provide a 3year driver's abstract (less than 1 month old. No more than 2 minor convictions within the last three years. No major convictions (ie. impaired driving, dangerous driving causing death/bodily harm).
  • Be handson and proactive in dealing with safety related issues. Boots on the ground required
  • Majority of the time must be spent on the shop floor and yard ensuring compliance to Alstar Safety Management System
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Create an environment that fosters respect
  • Bring a collaborative approach to decisionmaking
  • Strong computer skills (Google suite experience is an asset)
