About Us:


The purpose of the Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women and Children is to promote the development of community-centered action research on violence against women and children.

The Centre facilitates individuals, groups and institutions representing the diversity of the community to pursue research questions and training opportunities related to the understanding and prevention of abuse.

It is a collaborative venture with a Management Committee, and an Advisory Board including representatives from the University of Western Ontario, Fanshawe College and The London Coordinating Committee to End Woman Abuse (representing thirty agencies).


Responsibilities:


The Digital Communications Coordinator will support the design and implementation of a knowledge mobilization and multi-media strategy to disseminate information about research and education initiatives in the Centre.

The role will develop communication plans, graphic design and support related projects, with a focus on positioning Western as one of Canada's leading research-intensive Universities, and will protect, promote, and enhance the reputation of the University and its people by delivering concise, accurate information that is consistent with all of Western's applicable guidelines.

The role will also manage the Centre's social media platforms and websites, ensuring quality and consistency amongst the various communication channels.


Qualifications:


  • Education:
  • Undergraduate Degree in Information and Media Studies or a related program
  • Preferred:
  • Certificate in digital communication
  • College Diploma in Graphic Design
  • College Diploma in Web Design
  • Experience:
  • 3 years' experience in web design, graphic design, digital media, knowledge mobilization or related field
  • Experience in a research or postsecondary environment is preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite; Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Knowledge of ecommunication tools, including website and graphic design principles and with social media platforms
  • Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
  • Project management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and perform well under pressure
  • Ability to establish effective routines for excellent communication with all members of the team to maximize productivity
  • Communication skills to engage audiences, with confidence interacting with individuals at all levels of an organization
  • Knowledge of communications and marketing best practices, processes, trends, and tools
  • Discretion, tact and maturity to deal with public relations issues related to higher education
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment, meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
  • Computer skills with the ability to learn and use relevant software that achieves required outcomes and is in line with best practices
  • Interpersonal skills to liaise with prospective and current students, staff, faculty and other members of the Western community
  • Ability and propensity to use judgment and reevaluate decisions when presented with new information
  • Multitasking skills to prioritize and consistently produce highquality work within deadlines
  • Proven ability to build both formal and informal professional relationships within, across, and external to organizational boundaries
