Housing Services provides a variety of services such as the ShelterCare program that provides individuals experiencing homelessness access to on-site, integrated housing and health supports in support of exiting the cycle of homelessness.

Housing Services also includes supportive and affordable housing programs for those living on low income who may have experienced homelessness with on-site supports to maintain independent living.

Addiction Services programs provide support to adult individuals and their loved ones who are concerned about their substance use


Programs include:

Staged Day Treatment Community Counselling programs, Residential programs, Safer Use program, Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) clinic, Community Withdrawal Support Services (CWSS), Concurrent Supportive Housing Moving Forwards programs.

The successful applicant will provide administrative and operational support for the Directors of Housing Services and Addiction Services. Provides on-site reception support for addiction services program and administrative support to Residential Addiction Treatment program.


This is a full-time, contract position, from May 22, 2024 to July 24, 2024.

Schedule to have 30 hours per week - Monday to Friday, from 9am to 3:30pm.
This position is funded by the Canadian Government Canada Summer Jobs program which requires that the following eligibility criteria be met:


Eligibility:


  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment contract;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.

Key Responsibilities:


  • General administrative/operational support to the Directors and the Housing and Addictions programs
  • Monitor office supplies and program materials, contribute to their organization, place orders and pick up as requested
  • Ensure office equipment is serviced as needed and respond to unexpected maintenance issues
  • Assist with other program service activities and special events, including planning, preparation and clean up
  • Maintain confidentiality in compliance with Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
  • Supporting correspondence for the Directors (as appropriate)
  • Coordination of meetings, organization of calendars, contribute to effective scheduling practices
  • Maintain program registration and waitlists using internal and partner systems, including receipt of assessments
  • Support with inservice/external partner meetings including agenda support, minute taking, following upon action items as required
  • Preparation of reports and presentations, coordination of quarterly submissions, standard letters/briefing notes etc.
  • Maintenance of organizational charts, shared folders, policy and process
  • Organize and maintain electronic and paper files, in accordance with agency or program policies and professional standards
  • Maintain petty cash, preparing financial statements, expenses, credit cards and liaise with finance department as needed
  • Assist with other program service activities and special events, including planning, preparation and clean up
  • Support with adhoc projects and travel arrangements when required

Job Specific Knowledge/Skills:


  • Superior organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong skills in Excel, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Internally motivated with the ability to work comfortably and effectively independently
  • Knowledge of issues affecting those experiencing homelessness and/or addiction, mental health, poor health and poverty;
  • Knowledge of and commitment to a strength based philosophy
  • Demonstrated ability to calmly problemsolve in a fastpaced, sometimes stressful environment;
  • Knowledge of community resources and local addiction treatment services
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skill
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional ability to uphold a strict level of confiden
