Reporting to the Manager, Registration, Records and Reporting, the incumbent acts as the liaison between the Registrar's Office (RO) and the Ministry of Colleges and Universities, and Academic areas for the interpretation of Ministry and College documentation relating to curriculum and fee assessments.

This position researches and provides recommendations to a variety of areas throughout the college including senior managers on the implementation of programs, curriculum, and fee assessments.

The incumbent facilities the bring together of relevant parties to the table to ensure compliance/adherence to both Ministry and college policy/practices and move forward key initiatives within the RO.

The incumbent is expected to research new system developments to ensure best practices are maintained.


Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Responding to and providing recommendations to curriculum and policy inquiries impacting MCU and College approvals as well as funding
  • Provides feedback, interpretation and problem solving for senior College officials, academic areas, regional campuses and staff.
  • Acts as liaison between the Registrar's Office and the MCU, and College Auditors regarding Ministry and College documents relating to curriculum development and fee assessments, as well as participating in the development, revision and interpretation of college academic policies and procedures.
  • Defines and implements system rules and is a functional specialist for Banner upgrades, providing expertise in the areas of, curriculum, fee assessment and reporting.
  • Provides technical specifications to IT and is responsible for implementing system upgrades as well as analyzing existing processes and recommending enhancements.
  • Troubleshoots technical difficulties experienced by users and stays current on new system development to provide best practice solutions for the College.
  • Trains staff on Banner system development and enhancements and provides functional advice to external users of Banner.
  • Training and advising staff on the system development and enhancements, as well as College and Ministry policies/procedures and advising on priorities during peak periods.
  • Advises department staff on policy changes relating to a variety of areas including funding, curriculum, fee assessments, and others as required.
  • Participates in the creation and maintenance of college documents by managing and verifying curriculum and feerelated content in official publications.
  • Participates in the ongoing review of policies and procedures related to their areas of expertise.
  • Extracts, manipulates, and analyzes data in order to create statistical reports for the Ministry and College use.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Successfully completed a threeyear postsecondary degree/diploma in a relevant field of study that may include, but is not limited to business, computers or research.
  • Five years of experience in a systems role performing curriculum development and / or fees assessments in a postsecondary environment
  • Advanced computer skills and experience in various information systems (preferably Banner, Degree Works), databases and MS Office
  • Experience preparing detailed statistical reports.
  • Proven experience developing and delivering presentations to various audience including senior staff at the college.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing upgrades to systems including User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and take initiative.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills on complicated matters involving a variety of factors and potential implications.
  • Knowledge of academic programs, policies and procedures is an asset.
  • Experience working with and interpreting government policy documentation.
