Are you ready to elevate financial reporting to new heights? Join us as the Director of Financial Reporting, where you'll lead a dynamic team in crafting the narrative of our financial success.

Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President (Finance), you'll be the driving force behind our external financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance every step of the way.

The Director, Financial Reporting is a critical member of the Financial Services management team. This position will ensure that all of the external financial reporting for the University is completed and filed accordingly.

The Director will provide leadership and direction to a dedicated group of professionals and support staff in the tax compliance function, the trust and endowment administration function, and the accounts payable function.

The Director, Financial Reporting also leads and supports the groups in charge of maintaining the financial accounting and reporting systems of the University.


What You'll Do:


  • Manage, support and provide direction and coaching to a highly motivated and experienced team of five analysts as well as the accounts payable, systems and fixed asset teams.
  • Responsibility for the preparation, audit and issuance of the University of Regina's annual audited financial statements as well as the financial statements for the University's pension plans.
  • Responsibility for the preparation and remittance of other regulatory financial and tax reporting.
  • Responsibility for the areas of accounts payable, bank account administration, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, Accountable Professional Expense Accounts, document imaging, financial systems, Trust and Endowment fund administration, and tax.
  • Provide financial analysis and support to the university campus to facilitate actionable insights designed for datadriven decision making.
  • Develop and update written policies and procedures as required.
  • Ensure appropriate financial policies, procedures and metrics are in place to deliver quality service and effectively monitor the use of University resources

Position Requirements


What You'll Bring to this Position:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Commerce combined with years of related experience.
  • Canadian Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation. Experience in an audit firm would be an asset.
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered.

Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:

  • Sound knowledge of financial reporting practices and the Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant's Handbook. Direct knowledge of Parts II

  • Demonstrated experience in the supervision, coaching, and evaluation of staff.

Software Skills:
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including MS Access, is required. Knowledge of the BANNER and FAST systems are considered an asset.
