The Business Systems Analyst, EMR Specifications role is responsible for the development, support and ongoing evolution of OMD EMR Specifications.

This role works with both internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain both technical and business requirements in the advancement of EMRs for clinical practices at the point of care (e.g. EMR integrated provincial products and services).

Reporting to the Manager, EMR Specifications, the Business Systems Analyst, EMR Specifications is responsible for:

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to capture and develop requirements supporting technical and business workflows
Develop requirements that improve EMR data quality to advance the exchange of health data between point of services (e.g. EMRs, HIS, etc.)
Prepares technical requirement documents, system design flows, sequence diagrams or other technical documents for downstream teams. Liaise between clients and business partners to manage relationships and requirements updates
Lead and support in the requirements development process (e.g., definition and analysis of requirements) to connect EMRs to provincial EHR solutions and services
Support the ongoing refinement of requirements to maintain the accuracy and currency of EMR specifications
Participate in project meetings to report on progress and for issues management.

Requirements that are important to us:

University degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or equivalent experience
Three or more years of experience in business systems analysis developing technical requirements
Ability to gather and translate between business needs and technical requirements clearly and concisely with strong attention to detail
Experience utilizing relevant digital health standards, including messaging and content standards (e.g., FHIR, OAuth2, XML, SNOMED) Experience writing formal documents and business requirements
Knowledge of project management methodologies and planning process (goal statement, success criteria, stakeholder analysis, problem statement, scope definition, activity planning)
Understands and has worked with UML diagrams and other visual modelling techniques and technical documentation
Two or more years of direct experience working in the Ontario Healthcare IT sector, with emphasis on Community Care, EMR vendors and EMR products
Demonstrated experience building and maintaining productive working relationships with internal/external stakeholders in complex, multistakeholder health care environments
Knowledge of and experience with OMD EMR Specifications and EHR products and services
Knowledge of IT security and privacy concepts and standards in a healthcare IT sector
Ability to effectively work independently and with a dynamic team
Excellent written and oral presentation skills; able to present to internal and external stakeholders
