About the Role:
Responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial information in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
This role will play a key part in monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, preparation of annual consolidated financial statements, working closely with external auditors, and resolving complex accounting matters.
The role requires a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with strong technical accounting expertise, sound judgement and the ability to operate both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Job ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Close:
Preparation of timely monthly management reports and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS
Execute month-end and year-end close processes
Lead or support day-to-day operations of the accounting team, including accounts receivable, accounts payable. general ledger, fixed assets, and reconciliations
Technical Accounting
Research, interpret, and apply IFRS standards to complex transactions (e.g., revenue recognition, leases, financial instruments, business combinations, accounting for stock-based compensation, foreign currency)
Prepare accounting memos and position papers to document technical conclusions
Support implementation of new or amended IFRS standards
Audit & Compliance
Act as a key point of contact for external auditors during interim and year-end audits
Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries efficiently
Ensure compliance with internal control, accounting policy, tax (GST/VAT) and regulatory requirements
Process Improvement & Controls
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and controls
Assist in the development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures
Support automation and continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function
Collaboration & Support
Partner with FP&A / treasury, tax and operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
Support treasury by managing bi-weekly payment runs
Support corporate finance initiatives relating to debt compliance and planning requirements (forecast/budgeting)
Provide support to operations and business development in providing economic justifications for capital spend or expansion initiatives
Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as required
Support the roll out of a future ERP implementation to meet the needs of our rapidly growing business
Qualifications & Experience
CPA designation (Canada or equivalent)
4+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong hands-on experience preparing financial statements under IFRS
Solid understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, close processes, full cycle accounting
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
High level of competence in analyzing data
Effective written and oral communication skills
Ability to manage priorities and a variety of tasks while meeting deadlines
