Track Labourers / Technicians work as a part of the Rail Infrastructure team that is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and safety of our 693 miles of track.
Track Labourers / Technicians are responsible for inspecting, repairing and replacing rails, ties, switches and ballast.Enjoying physical labour and working outdoors in Northern Ontario as well as being safety-minded are vital to a career at ONTC.
This entry-level position is your doorway to many opportunities for advancement within the department.Perform tasks associated with track work including but not limited to, pulling and driving spikes, replacing ties, surfacing track, changing rail, bars, and other track components
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and federal and provincial regulations
Comply fully with all safety rules, policies
Work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions
~ Must possess validdriver's license
Able to qualify in Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR), and MTR (Transport Canada Rules Respecting Track Safety)
Working outdoors in various weather conditions (sometimes extreme) and regular exposure to dust and pollen
The successful candidate will need to pass the following clearances: criminal record check, employment references and pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol testing.
