Description

The Controller will be directly responsible for the financial success of CCT Auto Trans Inc, the administration of its operations and strategic financial planning.

He or she will provide financial leadership, manage budgets, oversee accounting functions, communicate when required and manage union financial obligations, manage and collaborate with consultant on employee benefits and initiated support programs, conduct forecast analysis, and monitor corporate credit.

This individual will also be responsible for playing a key role in long
- and short-term strategic decision making, oversee office administration, ensure fluent communication with maintenance department for accounting functions, HR support and working with the CEO as required on business development in a team environment.

Job Duties

  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop cost budgets for all operational aspects of the organization; manage project budgets, forecasts, and longterm strategic plans.
  • Report on a regular basis the company's status against, and ability to meet, its strategic and operational objectives.
  • Manage the development, implementation and tracking of CCT Auto Trans Inc's annual budgeting process such that the budgets will be in sufficient depth to form the basis for the planning process and for financial performance comparisons.
  • Collect and analyze cost data versus budget for ascertaining financial performance and risk assessment.
  • Prepare reports and evaluations for individual projects.
  • Develop accounting policies and procedures relevant to accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and project tracking.
  • Create and enforce business rules for all financial reporting.
  • Communicate and collaborate with departmental leaders to stay abreast of spending, budgeting, reports, and evaluation.
  • Manage driver union financial obligations.
  • Monitor legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to financial reporting, payroll and operations.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with commercial banks, professional organizations such as consultancy firms and accounting firms.
  • Facilitate and oversee any year end conducted by third parties to ensure effective resolution and swift closure of financial statements.
  • Lead and supervise finance department staff on accounting, payroll, reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and other financial matters.
  • Investigate variances in budgets, reporting, internal controls, and general accounting; deploy measures to resolve variances.
  • Provide general counsel to the CEO on all business and financial matters.
  • Provide support to any number of projects from an operational, financial and resource standpoint in regard to CCT group of companies.
  • Oversee CCT Auto Trans Inc's financial accountability and controls; ensure appropriate fiscal controls are in place to meet statutory compliance and the integrity of data and statements.
  • Manage inhouse support staff, engage with consultants and vendors.
  • Identify and analyze information and data to give early warning of potential problems and recommend corrective action.
  • Manage reporting to appropriate government agencies.
  • Explore and investigate potential cost savings opportunities. Test the market periodically.
  • Oversee office space and office system needs, purchasing equipment, supporting hiring processes, timesheets, expense reimbursement, securing insurance, etc.
  • Oversee compliance with CCT Auto Trans Inc's Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual, and recommend additions to, and/or modification of, the manual and other operating guides of CCT Auto Trans Inc.
  • Manage the instruction of new hires on policies and procedures, and the completion of all appropriate forms.
  • Oversee benefits and payroll administration.

  • Manage, in conjunction with the Senior Management Team, the scheduling and performance of annual employee performance reviews.
  • Manage periodic reviews of the employees' benefit package, and recommend changes.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the operational unit, company, or as directed by the CEO
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements:


  • 10 years progressively responsible experience in accounting with at least 5 years in management.
  • Extensive, experience and knowledge in dealing with Great Plains 2018 (accounting systems), budgets, internal controls, business planning, and asset management.
  • Experience with the Canada Labor Code and Ontario's Employment Standards
