    Job Description:

    City University of Seattle School of Health and Social Sciences commits to providing our diverse students, faculty, and staff with a welcoming and inclusive environment. Our Counselor Education department seeks a Program Director to join its current faculty team and to head the Marriage and Family Therapy Program.

    *Note: CityU Counselor Education is a hybrid program in greater Seattle. In-person instruction will re-commence depending on safe environmental factors. There is also a digital delivery modality.

    School Description:

    City University of Seattle's School of Health and Social Sciences is one of the lead producers of counselors for Washington State and British Columbia, Canada.     Job Summary:

    Program Directors are accountable for a quality student experience. Provide visionary leadership and management to ensure the success of the designated academic program, including program design, curriculum development, assessment, and technology integration. Lead and manage academic staff, full-time faculty, and teaching faculty as assigned. Foster student development and actively engage in educational governance.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Program Management
  • Plans, organizes, directs, staffs, and monitors operations of the designated program, including curriculum assessment, review, and development. Maintains program currency and leads the effort to review and revise the program to enhance the student learning experience.

  • Internship Supervision
  • Oversees the internship programs for the Marriage and Family master's degree students. Creates, approves, and supports appropriate internship sites and professional relationships with agencies and supervisors. Actively engages in clinical practice and supervision as a licensed clinician in the State of Washington or as a similarly state-licensed clinician. Maintains AAMFT-approved supervision qualifications. Provides yearly CFT supervisory training for on-site supervisors. Trains and approves new supervisors as needed.

  • Teaching Excellence
  • Teaches 3 courses a year or the equivalent, within compensation, as assigned by the Dean, to ensure quality of program and student learning experience. Demonstrates excellence in teaching and learning while fostering student development. Establishes a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the classroom through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.

  • Performance of Faculty and Staff
  • Monitors the performance of academic staff, full-time faculty, and part-time teaching faculty to ensure program quality. Responsible for hiring, developing, evaluating, and managing expectations of direct reports. Provides effective orientation, training, mentoring, and coaching to foster a respectful, empowering learning environment.

  • Curriculum Development and Review
  • Ensures that program curriculum aligns with the CityU Academic Model, focuses on application and current practice, and meets applicable accreditation standards.

  • Student Learning and Development
  • Oversees and advocates for student learning and engagement. Proactively develops students to become responsible, ethical, self-directed professionals. Promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in mental health practice.

  • Academic and Institutional Governance
  • Participates in academic and institutional governance by serving on councils and committees.

  • Currency and Scholarship
  • Provides leadership to ensure faculty currency. Models, encourages, and promotes scholarship in teaching and learning.

  • Service and Outreach
  • Participates in and promotes professional communities in areas of expertise.


    Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • An earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Marriage and Family Therapy or a related field.
  • AAMFT Approved Supervisor or AAMFT Approved Supervisor Candidate.
  • Licensed or license-eligible as a marriage and family therapist in Washington State or as a similarly state-licensed clinician.
  • Experience in higher education management and adult education, with a minimum of three years of proven experience in teaching, preferably in both in-class and online modes of educational delivery.
  • Program development, administration, and leadership experience in a COAMFTE-accredited graduate program is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing in a creative and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work comfortably with and manage virtual teams.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Must relate to and communicate with diverse students, faculty, staff, and external communities.
  • Ability to present an appropriate professional image.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and learning management systems in support of quality teaching and learning.

    $85,000/year
