Our Team
The Superintendent Integrated Operations & Scheduling (IOS) will lead the Operations and Scheduling teams at our Sudbury, Ontario location.

The Superintendent IOS will report into the Manager Site Mines Technical Services and will work closely with our Mine execution teams.


The Opportunity
We are currently seeking two (2)
Superintendent, Integrated Operations Scheduling (IOS) to join our Ontario Operations in Sudbury. These are
permanent on-site positions.

You will manage the Integrated Operations Scheduling for the site.

The role is accountable for the following:

developing the integrated site schedule; execution of the Asset Management business processes within the Vale Production System (VPS) and usage of related systems/tools such as Deswik, SAP, Power BI, etc.

The role also includes the management of a team of Engineers, Mine Technical Services Planners, and Schedulers.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Be accountable for delivering on Annual Budget, Quarterly Plans, D+30 (monthly), and weekly plans.
  • Resource estimation (equipment, people & materials) to support mine plans and budgets.
  • Midrange mine designs including production, development, and infrastructure.
  • Recovery and opportunity plans to deliver on budget.
  • Responsible to assist with monthly deviation analysis process.
  • Execute the business processes (VPS Technical).
  • Participate in VPS audits, as required.
  • Pursue expanded use of the business processes and systems as required (Continuous Improvement)
  • Understand and report out on deviations of KPIs.
  • Participate in the development of the Budget (Operating & Capital).
  • Create and distribute ramp down/up scheduled for major plant outages.
  • Integrate crossboundary schedules.
  • Lead the optimization of operations and scheduling plans.
  • Report out weekly on production and development KPIs, trends to the mine leadership team.
  • Develop, participate in, and execute continuous improvement plans addressing common cause issues within the Mine.
  • Lead MOC as required.
  • Build role holder competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities) at the site.
  • Work closely with the following groups:
  • Operations
  • Engineering
  • Geology
  • Maintenance & Services

About You

Education:


  • Undergraduate Mine Engineering Degree with a preference for registration as Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).

Experience:


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Mine Engineering, Operations Supervision, Planning, Scheduling, or related role.

Skills:


  • Knowledge and understanding of project management, Engineering, VPS Technical.
  • Decision making based on best practices and benefits to the business.
  • Understanding and knowledge of mining standards.
  • Software planning tools including EPS, Deswick, Mine 24D.
  • Familiarity with integrated business planning cycles.
  • Engineering
supervision, and project planning.

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have strong organization, systematic and time management skills.
  • Takes initiative and is selfdirected to accomplish goals with minimum supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid financial knowledge to make business cases and decisions.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
