Support Staff Full-time Replacement Position

(First consideration for Support Staff and Academic positions will be given to internal applicants in accordance with the respective Collective Agreements)


We require a qualified individual to join the International Admissions department and assume responsibility for reviewing applicant's international credentials and assessing transcripts to assist in the admissions process.

The Specialist is also responsible for developing new or improved procedures, researching foreign qualifications, and maintaining information resources.


Responsibilities:


  • Acts as a key contact for applicants for credential assessments
  • Assesses/evaluates international transcripts to determine/confirm applicant's educational background and equivalency to Ontario standards for admission purposes
  • Authenticates transcripts to ensure they are legitimate
  • Records the results of assessments in the applicant record on Student Information System (SIS) and maintains a database of assessed documents for future reference
  • Advises the applicant of assessment outcomes, and receives and investigates appeals or complaints
  • Develops new processes and procedures for internal credential assessment protocol and revises these to remain current and uptodate with industry standards and enhanced quality
  • Researches foreign qualifications and countryspecific education systems to ensure a full understanding of documents presented
  • Develops and maintains information resources and inhouse references by country
  • As required, admits qualified international applicants to fulltime programs
  • Manages the admissions process for qualified applicants, including the issuing of acceptance letters, ensuring accurate deadlines and fees are included
  • Evaluates, processes, updates, and maintains applicant files/databases
  • Records applicant status changes on the computer system and initiates correspondence with applicants
  • Monitors time limitations for the receipt of information
  • Authorizes extension of deadlines for applicants
  • Works closely with the Admissions Office to assist with all admission functions and acts as backup

Qualifications:


  • Threeyear Diploma/Degree in Business, Education, Communications, or a related field
  • Three years of experience in a similar role with comprehensive knowledge of international education systems and expert knowledge of the transcript authentication process
  • Comprehensive knowledge of international education systems including elementary, high school and postsecondary
  • Expert knowledge of the transcript authentication process
  • Extensive experience assessing international transcripts to Ontario standards
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex documentation
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills (with particular emphasis on communication with individuals external to the College and speakers whose first language is not English)
  • Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
  • Work well under pressure in a highly demanding environment
  • Overtime may be required during peak periods
