The LDB is one of two branches of government responsible for the cannabis and liquor industry of B.C.

We operate the wholesale distribution of beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis within the province, as well as the household retail brands of BC Liquor Stores and BC Cannabis Stores.

Liquor Retail Operations, encompassing the three retail business units of Merchandising, Marketing and Store Operations, is responsible for the daily operations of the 198 BC Liquor Stores.

The Retail division develops and executes key strategies to drive business, creates systems and processes, and establishes daily retail procedures to maximize operational excellence, while upholding BCLDB's core values of service, relationships and results.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing & Advertising, the Marketing & Advertising Manager is responsible for designing, planning, managing, implementing, and evaluating BC Liquor's marketing, advertising and Social Responsibility promotions and activities to ensure BCL's business and marketing goals are achieved.

This role is responsible for increasing brand awareness, brand affinity and driving traffic to BCL's 198 locations and future ecommerce platform.

This includes designing, developing and implementing product or store focused cooperative promotional programs with supplier trade groups, foreign trade commissioners/consulates, other ministries and other internal departments and leading BCL owned marketing initiatives and programs working in collaboration with the merchandising team.

The position is also responsible for managing BC Liquor's Social Responsibility Programs.

Position Requirements:


Education and Experience:


  • Degree in Marketing, Business or related program and a minimum of 3 years of recent* experience.
OR

  • Diploma or Certificate in Marketing, Business or related program and a minimum of 5 years of recent* experience.
  • Recent experience must be within the last 7 years with the following:
  • Experience in retail marketing/advertising/strategy.
  • Experience with instore marketing programs in a retail organization.
  • Minimum of two years of experience supervising employees in a marketing environment.
  • Experience in a large, distributed retail environment is preferred.
