Description

Purpose
The position reports into the Team Lead, IT Infrastructure. The role is primarily responsible for the operation, support, and maintenance of the corporate server infrastructure.

This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, documenting, and optimizing all server / storage / cloud device hardware and software across all sites connected to Rocky Mountaineer, including infrastructure onboard trains.

In addition, this role will also be responsible for managing and performing system administration tasks to ensure system integrity and conducting proactive performance tuning, security measures, capacity monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Plan and perform installation of patches and upgrades as well as development of preventative maintenance plans.

Participate in:

network installation, configuration, upgrades including planning, conversions, customizations, interfaces, training, testing, and evaluation of new infrastructure and system components and technologies.


Key Areas of Accountability

System Administration:


  • Deploying and managing Azure server infrastructure, cloud services and systems including Microsoft 365 services
  • Deploying and managing VMWare hosts, virtual machines, storage systems, and network devices, keeping in scope systems secured, up to date, and protected from data loss
  • Managing Azure IaaS services including AAD, RBAC, Enterprise Apps, Key Vaults, and Availability Sets
  • Managing and maintaining Citrix XenApp environment, including virtual NetScaler gateway, virtual apps, and VDI
  • Managing and maintaining critical cloud storage, provisioning, and controlling storage allocated to systems and users
  • Developing and maintaining backup systems and disaster recovery processes, regularly testing and validating data and processes
  • Developing and validating security posture for PCI DSS, ISO27001, GDPR, and generally accepted network standards to provide rigorous security and compliance

Documentation and Training:


  • Creating and continuously maintaining documentation for systems and processes
  • Writing instructional and technical support documents for systems administrators/support staff as well as endusers/customers
  • Documenting and educating coworkers on all implemented solutions as well as improvements in system security practices and implementations
  • Participating in the growth of Information Technology and the development of IT standards and methodologies

Innovation and Other Projects:


  • Keeping current on modern technology trends and products, providing guidance to team members and direction on new project options
  • Evaluating potential technologies and provide recommendations on system hardware and security improvements and implementations
  • Working closely with the IT management team, support and customer care teams and other internal partners to satisfy all customer requirements
  • Participating in IT Infrastructure related projects and initiatives
  • Coordinating and performing afterhours maintenance as required

Qualifications

Education / Certifications / Knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Expert
  • Citrix and VMware certifications a plus

Experience

  • 68 years of work experience as Systems Administrator
  • Experience managing Azure IaaS including resource groups, servers, storage, backup/DR recovery vault, and access control permissions (RBAC)
  • Experience managing Citrix ADC and XenApp machine creation services (MCS)
  • Advance Knowledge of Azure Active Directory, On-Prem AD, SSO, MFA, ADFS, DNS, KMS, AD Certificate services and other Windowsbased Domain Management services
  • Advanced knowledge of the Windows Server 2019 platform (installations, upgrades, maintenance, optimization)
  • Advance knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server & Desktop Management
  • Advance knowledge of VMware vSphere (vCenter, DRS, vmotion, HA)
  • Advance knowledge of Citrix XenApp 7.x
  • Intermediate knowledge of Fileshare, DFS, NFS, and CIFS storage protocols
  • Intermediate knowledge of networking technologies (DNS, DHCP, IP)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Exchange / MSO36
  • Intermediate knowledge of VMWare VDC and VCloud Director
  • Intermediate to advance knowledge of Azure Cloud Services
  • Intermediate to advance knowledge of system automation and PowerShell
  • Intermediate to advance knowledge of Microsoft SCCM
