The Centre for Faculty Development (CFD) was founded in 2002 as a partnership between St. Michael's Hospital (now known as Unity Health Toronto) and the University of Toronto (UofT), Temerty Faculty of Medicine. It is positioned as an Extra Departmental Unit within UofT.

This unique Centre is known for the strength and relevance of its faculty development programming that is delivered to interprofessional audiences and its internationally recognized scholarship.


The CFD is committed to supporting health professionals across their multiple education roles and activities - including teaching, academic leadership, scholarship, and advocacy, regardless if they hold a formal faculty role.

The CFD provides flexible and adaptable programming that is responsive to emerging needs, facilitates communities and networking, and supports capacity building across the system.

More specifically the CFD's offerings include longitudinal programs, individual workshops, curated lists of resources, and faculty development consultations with local, national, and international partners.


The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Coordinate and implement the Centre's evaluation strategy
  • Conduct program specific evaluation studies
  • Monitor and inform reporting on the Centre's strategic plan


The Education Coordinator, Evaluation & Strategy is a reliable, self-motivated individual with exceptional organizational skills and demonstrated commitment to customer service.

The success and reputation of the CFD are highly contingent upon the ability of this individual to be tactful, diplomatic, decisive, and independent in their role.

Note that this role is based primarily out of the St. Michael's Hospital/Li Ka Shing site.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement the Centre's evaluation strategy
_

  • Working with the Associate Director, Evaluation and Knowledge Mobilization and the Centre team to support the operational activities required to effectively implement and enhance the centre's evaluation strategy
  • Coordinate data management including processing and organizing data according to established protocols
  • Support the collection, collation, analysis and reporting of quantitative and qualitative evaluative data for quality improvement and scholarly purposes
  • Support the development of protocols in service of seamless implementation of multiple evaluation projects across all CFD programs, and with external partners when collaborative projects arise
  • Knowledge mobilization in relation to the Centre's evaluation strategies including maintaining relationships and communications amongst various Centre programs and partners, with the view of promoting awareness about and enhancement of the centre's evaluation strategy
  • Coordinate collation and dissemination of evaluation data for developmental purposes on an ongoing basis as well as for annual and fiveyear review reports in consultation with the Associate Director, Evaluation and Knowledge Mobilization
  • Conduct program specific evaluation projects_
  • Oversee the execution of evaluation plans for targeted, high quality evaluative studies for specific programs or multiprogram projects
  • Support data collection and analysis of evaluative data of target projects in consultation with the Associate Director, Evaluation and Knowledge Mobilization and in collaboration with other team members who are supporting and collaborating on the project
  • Monitor and support reporting on Centre's strategic plan_
  • Coordinate activities related to documentation and reporting of activities that underpin the Centre's strategic plan, including coordination of the Centre's annual report
  • Gather activity progress and update data from staff and faculty across the CFD to inform ongoing documentation and record keeping about the enactment of the CFD strategic plan
  • Liaise between the evaluation strategy work and strategic plan activities to identify alignments and share data in consultation with CFD leadership

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant field (e.g. Education, Psychology, Sociology, etc.) or equivalent professional experience; Master's degree is an asset
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience leading or supporting program evaluation activities required
  • Working knowledge of the theoretical and operational aspects of executing evaluation work
  • Extensive project management or coordination experience with demonstrated experience coordinating multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Experience working with health professionals or within a health care, community health, health sciences, or health professions education environment is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including strong communication and relationship management skills
  • Excellent data management and record keeping skills
  • Ability to work in a team, including via telecommunications
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Excellent organization, decisionmaking / problems
