Youth After-School Program Leader
BGC St. Alban's Club is looking for enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated individuals to work in our youth programs.

Your role as a Youth Program Leader will be to provide a safe and supportive environment for program participants 12-18 years of age.

Program components include education, recreation, social activities, sports, mentoring and creative arts. This position is located at our Main Clubhouse at 843 Palmerston Avenue.


Responsibilities:


  • Plan, organize and lead a group of teens
  • Create and facilitate fun, creative and inclusive activities for all participants
  • Complete appropriate administrative tasks in a timely manner (i.e. attendances and headcounts)
  • Developing and planning programs for youth between the ages of 12 and 18 years
  • Help to ensure the safety and security of the members and assist in responding to critical incidents as outlined in the Club's policies and procedures
  • Participate in staff training and orientation sessions
  • Ensuring the safety and supervision of participants at all times
  • Dealing with conflicts and behavior management immediately using corrective techniques as discussed in training
  • Report to and takes direction from Program Manager and Supervisors
  • Maintain professional relationships with peers, members, volunteers, parents and other Club members
  • Assist Program Coordinator with outreach and recruitment at schools such as presentations, posting flyers, and information workshops

Qualifications:


  • Educational background applicable to the position
  • Experience working with youth 12 to 18 year olds
  • Strong skills in one or more of the following areas: sports and recreation, mentorship, and creative arts.
  • Strong supervision and program planning skills
  • Good decision making and problem solving skills
  • Current First-Aid and CPR training
  • Police Reference Check to be completed upon hiring
  • High Five
  • Principles of Healthy Child Development to be completed upon hiring
  • Valid driver's license is a strong asset

Contract Period:
September 5h June 28th, 2024


Hours:
Up to 20 hours a week (Monday-Friday)


Wages:
Starting at $16.50/hour
