The Role


Medcan is recruiting for a licensed Clinical Child and Youth Psychologist to join our high-performing team of two child and youth clinicians within our mental health program.

The Clinical Child and Youth Psychologist will have the opportunity to work on an interdisciplinary team of clinicians to deliver a portion of our comprehensive Child and Youth Health Assessment.


For parents seeking to understand their child better, our Child and Youth Health Assessment provides tailored strategies to help their child reach their potential.

The Child and Youth Health Assessment provides specific insights to parents based on their child's unique physical, social and emotional needs.

There will be a potential opportunity to work with individuals and/or families as part of your Medcan practice.

Child and Youth Health Assessment Accountabilities:

  • Conducting, interpreting and reviewing client cognitive and behavioural assessment results
  • Adapting a 1-hour session in real time to reflect both child profile and expressed parent needs
  • Depending on age and maturity of child, discussing strategies with parents to help mentor and inspire confidence and success and/or directly discussing strategies with child.
  • Building strong relationships with the child's Medcan team to coordinate care and enhance the client experience
  • Prepare a summary report to reflect relevant client insights and action plans which may include referrals and resource recommendations
  • Maintaining documentation as required
  • Provide exceptional client experience and client-centered care
  • Follow Medcan procedures for all documentation, timelines, coordination with internal teams and follow up care
  • Adhere to standards of best practice

Requirements:


  • Ph.
D. in Clinical Psychology or Psy.
D- Registration in Child and Adolescence Psychology- Current registration in good standing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario- Strict adherence to the College of Psychologists of Ontario's Standards and Professional Conduct- Demonstrable clinical experience with children- Experience providing individual and family counselling to children and youth- Experience working with relationship and parenting challenges- Superior organization and time management skills- Excellent written and verbal communication skills- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to respectfully and tactfully interact with a variety of internal and external stakeholders- Proficient in

This is an Independent Contractor role that reports to the Chief Medical Officer. Based out of either our Toronto or Oakville.
