    Description


    ECC is seeking a Staff Environmental Scientist for a position located in Port Hope, Ontario. The role requires a Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) security clearance (5 years in country).

    This office and field position involves working with an on-site team to help plan, select, coordinate and implement scientific and environmental services to fully address the scope of work on environmental remediation and hazardous waste management projects in accordance with Company standards, regulatory criteria, and contractual obligations.

    This is an immediately available position where you will:

    1. Under direct supervision, prepare environmental reports and plans.
    2. Analyze environmental/site/material data.
    3. Perform cross-disciplinary safety/quality, project controls, procurement and contracts, and estimating duties as assigned.
    4. Report to the site and conduct field sampling, construction, engineering, and other miscellaneous field support services.
    5. Maintain budget and schedule for assigned tasks.
    6. Apply industry standards of practice for selected technology, adhering to regulatory codes, building codes, national/local standards, and company policies and SOPs.
    7. As directed, report to the field to perform and/or inspect or observe fieldwork, and review work of personnel, subcontractors and consultants to ensure compliance with approved plans and acceptable tolerances.
    8. Complete related documentation (field reports, logs, meeting minutes, online submittal sites), in a timely and accurate manner.

    In addition to the accountabilities above, other responsibilities, tasks, and deliverables may be assigned to the incumbent of this position.

    Requirements


    The incumbent must:

    • Apply basic knowledge of general scientific and engineering principles and analytical tools, as directed.
    • Apply education of environmental processes, remediation technologies, design and construction technologies as directed.
    • Implement Federal and Provincial Environmental Regulations.
    • Communicate effectively by written and verbal means.
    • Perform multiple concurrent tasks and meet timelines, as directed.
    • Work well independently and as a team.
    • Be competent in using Microsoft Office products, email systems, and Windows.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous internship in a related field of study preferred.
    • Experience with Low-Level Radioactive Waste is a plus.
    • Prior experience with large scale environmental remediation projects preferred.

    The targeted base salary range for the Toronto, ON area is $50,000 to $70,000 annually. The actual salary offered may vary based on education, training, certifications, experience, skills, level of responsibility, and location.
