The Opportunity

  • Our Canada Gas Projects Construction Services team is currently seeking a Manager, Construction Services East. Based in North Bay, ON, the Manager will lead multiple fieldbased construction crews who are responsible for the execution of Integrity Projects within Eastern Canada.
What you'll do

  • Ensure all Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality commitments are being carried out
  • Regularly visit project sites to assess safety and quality performance
  • Ensure the team is executing within the Company's Policies, Procedures, Specifications and Standards
  • Identify / prioritize high value and high impact initiatives that drive value creation opportunities for the Company, improve process efficiency and reduce project life cycle costs
  • Demonstrate safety leadership and integrate safety performance into construction execution and identify and address gaps when required
  • Work and collaborate with the project management and operation teams to plan and execute construction projects as a partner of choice
  • Develop and manage annual business plans and associated budgets and prepare and present management reports and statistics
  • Deliver presentations to the management teams demonstrating team effectiveness
  • Provide input into strategic direction and consultation regarding all aspects of construction for the wider organization
  • Represent the Company on external industry committees and establish effective relationships with applicable regulators and external stakeholders
  • Manage a fleet of light duty trucks, heavy duty trucks (HOS), heavy equipment and other various construction equipment
  • Manage and coordinate emergency response with a requirement to respond promptly to emergency situations
  • Work with direct reports to address learning and development opportunities, identify training gaps, ensure all mandatory training is completed on time and develop succession plans
  • Work with peer managers to drive collaboration and communication with project teams and develop growth opportunities for the construction teams
  • Provide your team with performance feedback, appropriate rewards, recognition, and coaching
  • Be a champion for continuous improvement and change management
Minimum Qualifications

  • Technical Trades Certification or Post-Secondary Diploma in a related field
  • An equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered
  • 15 years of construction and/or project management related experience
  • Proven experience in Pipeline construction and integrity projects
  • Demonstrated experience leading Field-Based Construction resources
Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing project estimates, schedules and budgets
  • Experience with Pipeline & Facilities Operations
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of construction practices with respect to pipeline & pipe integrity projects
  • Successfully complete preemployment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training (estimated up to 25% of work schedule)
  • Be available evenings and weekends as required to support ongoing construction issues
