Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Food and Beverage Inventory (FBI) technician (tech) is responsible for the seamless supply of all goods to all labs for the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts and The Local Café and Restaurant as well as the Centennial College Event Centre from the distribution centre.

The FBI tech will store, sort, prepare the portions for each area as per requisitions and distribute all items required for the efficient operation of all the labs Located in the school.

This is an operational level position assisting the academic team to run smooth and meaningful classes, deliver customer-focused food services at a variety of venues within the school of hospitality, tourism and culinary arts.


Responsibilities

  • Unpacks & shelves all received goods in a timely manner to preserve quality of products according to the FIFO system. Removes and stores packaging materials and crates accordingly for removal from site.
  • Distributes all goods and supplies to all parties according to issue requisitions
  • Evaluates and reshelves unused portion of issued products for further distribution
  • Accumulates various issue requisition in a timely manner and takes stock inventory. Prepares with the use of the optimum control system academic requisition to be delivered to the purchasing assistant.
  • Maintain a par stock level of all goods, including cleaning, paper, and first aid and catering supplies.
  • Maintain food and beverage inventory and equipment in sanitary condition. Sanitation codes and maintenance schedules must be strictly followed and Safe food handling practices, including proper food rotation
  • Participates in the daily record keeping.
  • Participates with a cost control tool to allocate costs to the various activities.
  • Participates in the periodic physical inventory activities (Preparation of documents, taking inventory and inventory inputting).
  • Organization of all academic requisitions. This includes inputting of recipes, food production schedules, organization and execution of all weekly requisitions.
  • Assists in the maintenance of the inventory control system (optimum control). This includes keeping all academic recipes and course needs up to date, and assists the operations to maintain par stock levels and whenever needed.

Qualifications/Experience

  • 2 year Diploma or Equivalent ideally in a Culinary Arts, Food and Beverage Management program or Supply Chain Management/Operations.
  • Food Handler (safety) certificate
  • A minimum of 1 year of Hospitality Industry experience;
  • Experience in Purchasing and/or Shipping & Receiving preferred
  • Experience working in a team that is responsible for multiunit operations, as well as working independently with mínimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
