- Perform morning opening duties and initial intake appointments for patients.
- Administer IV catheters, fluid therapy, and prepare patient medications following VSCAN protocols.
- Collaborate with Anesthesiologist to develop anesthesia plans and protocols.
- Take vital signs, review charts, and provide or coordinate necessary treatments for in-patients.
- Monitor medical and post-op cases, providing treatment as needed, including incision care and post-operative procedures.
- Prepare for surgeries, including equipment setup and ensuring anesthesia machines are operational.
- Assist during and post-surgery, including anesthesia, post-op injections, and cleanup.
- Conduct radiographs and handle bloodwork, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid analysis.
- Update patient documentation, including sheets for admissions, ICU, treatments, and anesthesia.
- Manage patient discharges in coordination with DVMs, ensuring patient readiness and clear go-home instructions.
- Work with Veterinary Assistants to ensure patients are ready for discharge, perform go-home appointments, and demonstrate exercises.
- Provide comprehensive patient care, including feeding, walking, and maintaining cleanliness.
- Perform housekeeping duties, stock in-house supplies, and complete Technician duties lists.
- Completion of an accredited Veterinary Technician program
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician
- Exceptional client service skills; with proficient written and verbal skills
- Ability to maintain composure in emergency and stressful situations
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and collaborative team player
- Initiative-taking, with the capacity to work independently and make sound decisions
- Demonstrate accountability; dependability; and strong judgement
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Able to multi-task while providingaconsistently high level of patient care and support to others
- Uphold professionalism and maintain confidentiality
- General working conditions can include standing or crouching for extended periods of time
- Able to stand for lengthy periods during surgical or digital imaging procedures
- May be required to lift up to 15 kg alone and support up to 50 kg with assistance
- Team members may be exposed to the following: radiation, biohazardous substances, chemical hazards, potentially fractious patients, emotionally stressful situations, unpleasantodors, bites and/or scratches from patients, and loud noises
