Employment and Income Assistance (EIA) provides employment supports and financial assistance in order to assist citizens in regaining their independence.

EIA assists program participants to successfully transition from social assistance to work by engaging them in an employability assessment, assisting them to develop Action Plans, and providing related supports, services and incentives based on their needs.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Experience working with the general public, providing service to diverse clients.
  • Experience in determining eligibility and explaining legislation, policies or procedures to others
  • Strong organizational skills including ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure with accuracy in an environment with competing demands.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively with the public, team members, managers, other staff and agencies.
  • Effective problem solving skills with the ability to manage conflict in a calm and respectful manner.
  • Effective written communication skills.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently with high degree of initiative.

Desired:

  • Knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).

Duties:

EIA Intake and Information Clerk

As part of a multifunctional team involved in the delivery of EIA, the Clerk is responsible for support to the team through the provision of a wide range of support services directly and indirectly to EIA applicants and the general public.

Under the general direction of the Supervisor, the incumbent responds to citizen inquiries regarding program registration and general information requests; schedules appointments; gathers applicant information for program registration (i.e. Pre-Intake Orientations); conducts screening assessments for service; provides information on and referral to departmental and community programs and services and follows up with call backs to citizens as required
