    Location: Calgary, Alberta

    Ashcor Technologies Ltd. is a subsidiary of ATCO and the largest independent marketed of fly ash in Western Canada. We are looking for an Engineer to join us in the exciting work we do in the Engineering Team. This position reports to the Senior Director, Engineering & Production Technology and is responsible for developing engineering and construction plans for Ashcor mineral processing facilities, with support and guidance from the Senior Director and colleagues. The Engineer establishes and maintains relationships and contracts with external parties to secure the engineering/drafting, project support staff, materials, and other services required to support existing and develop future mineral processing facilities. The Engineer is accountable to ensure the company's health, safety and environmental requirements are met, and that technical, quality, schedule and cost goals are achieved.

    Position is based on Calgary, AB at the Ashcor office. Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to travel to local and international project sites, for periods up to a week at a time is a necessity. Total travel time required is expected to be <50%.

    What Else You Get To Do:

    • Employ a "safety-first" attitude and ensure all HSE requirements are followed.
    • Achieve health, safety and environmental outcomes that meet regulatory requirements, operating licenses, permits and Ashcor's Policies, Procedures and Best Practices. Applying the principles of risk management and loss control, minimize exposure to safety hazards and environmental risks by applying engineering and management processes. Implement effective management processes to inform/educate and monitor contractors, subcontractors and individual employees in all work areas where hazards and risks are present. Report incidents and follow-up actions in accordance with Ashcor's reporting policies and ensure a full investigation of all high ranking incidents to identify root causes and take appropriate action to mitigate the potential for recurrence.
    • Ensure all contractors have and apply health, safety and environmental programs that meet Ashcor's, industry and legislated standards. Ensure adequate monitoring and audits to verify compliance with the program requirements.
    • Ensure safe work plans are prepared and followed for all activities that pose hazards or risks to personnel, property or the environment.
    • Leadership role regarding Ashcor's RAM (Reclaim Ash Management) 'operational playbook', consisting of operational principles, specific operational, maintenance, and administrative procedures, other foundational 'new site' RAM-related documentation, and a coupled responsibility to train new and redeployed personnel on this key topic.
    • Leadership of optimization of Ashcor's RAM facility production rate, reliability, and reporting thereof.
    • Responsible as liaison between engineering and RAM operations, ensuring both groups are appropriately consulted/informed on matters requiring the input or approval of either group.

    Who You Are:

    • Undergraduate degree in Engineering; Mechanical or Chemical is preferred.
    • A minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in industrial process, petrochemical, power generation, or mineral processing facilities, preferably including aspects of design and construction and commissioning.
    • Mechanical discipline and practical experience is a necessity. A combination of mechanical and civil engineering design/construction would be considered an asset.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Knowledge of mineral-processing related industrial processes and technologies.
    • Proficient use of AutoCAD and MS Office packages including MS Project.
    • Ability to think critically and problem solve.
    • Basic Project Management principles.
    • Self-starter with diverse and strong technical and analytical skills who is results focused and can manage effectively in a team environment.
