Weld Production Supervisor/Cell Leader
***The Weld Production Supervisor/Cell Leader is responsible for ensuring that the cell is operating in a safe and efficient manner, meeting its delivery commitments, and providing high quality product to the required specification in accordance with the production schedule. This position is also responsible for providing leadership and direction to team members, encouraging effective communication within the cell, and promoting positive employee relations.


WHAT YOU WILL DO:


  • Supports all company safety initiatives, conducts weekly safety walks, enforces all safety policies, ensures all employees are trained in safe work procedures, and submits hazard and spill reports as required.
  • Supports OPEX through both weekly 5S and monthly world class audits, maintains housekeeping checklists and coordinates continuous improvement activities.
  • Supports all quality training to ensure all required material and tools are available to support first time quality.
  • Leads the manufacturing cell and employees by utilizing leadership tools with a focus on achieving New Flyer goals and KPIs.
  • Presents the results and corrective actions based on weekly reviews of the cell metric results. Ensures active participation from the supporting departments of quality, manufacturing engineering and the material group.
  • Maintains the production schedule through the coordination of both instation and outofstation requirements, scheduling of overtime as required, and crosstraining.
  • Supports the administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and ensures compliance is maintained and understands the Cell Leader's role in the grievance process.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Three to five years' prior weld supervisory experience in a fast-paced, heavy-duty manufacturing environment.
  • CWB Weld Supervisor certification is required for this position.
  • Experience with GMAW and GTAW welding processes with mild steel, aluminum, and stainless materials.
  • Strong understanding of CWB welding standards and codes.
  • Experience with CWB welder qualification process.
  • Superior interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Exceptional computer and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor others and work well under pressure.
  • Goal orientated and motivation to achieve tasks within set timelines.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience considered an asset.
