Director of Accounting
This is exciting opportunity to join Northland Properties, Canada's largest and fastest growing privately owned hospitality group.

Founded in 1963, Northland operates in five countries with over 60 hotels, 150 restaurants, three resorts, three hockey teams and other brands and lines of business.

Responsibilities:


  • Leading the accounting team of ~16 total reports, both direct and indirect
  • Coordinating all accounting functions with the Finance department.
  • Oversees periodend and yearend closings effectively and efficiently, producing accurate financial reports in a timely manner, for both internal and external stakeholder requirements (auditors, financial partners, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the FP&A team in the preparation and distribution of period end management profit and loss statements and various other reports, in support of the functional and business unit leaders.
  • Maintaining and reviewing all balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage the yearend process including coordination with external accounting firm and preparation of working papers and other requirements.
  • Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of noncompliance.
  • Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, policies and procedures.
  • Reviewing current processes and identifying opportunities for change.
  • Develop, implement and monitor financial controls.
  • Performing other accounting duties and supervising and mentoring junior staff.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting or Business Administration, CPA. Designation preferred.
  • 10+ years in progressively more senior Finance or Accounting roles with experience managing teams.
  • Expertise in Canadian private company GAAP (ASPE).
  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 an asset.
  • Excellent communicator, selfmotivated and driven team player with the ability to build relationships and community with coworkers and crossfunctional partners.
  • Ability to train and manage staff.
