Job Description Summary:


This position performs any combination of the following duties to assist Welders such as deburring, drilling, grinding, moving materials, fitting, finishing, visual inspections and palletizing.

This position also involves cleaning work area, and other duties as assigned. This position reports directly to the Operations & Site Manager.

The duties and responsibilities of the Metal Shop Machine Operator I will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lifts, moves and holds or clamps work pieces to table, or into position as directed
  • Cleans work pieces to remove impurities using wire brush, portable grinder, hand scraper or chemical solutions.
  • Cut material with powered saws and drill parts
  • Assemble component parts using hand and power tools
  • Use appropriate welding equipment or method based on the work order requirements.
  • Must use all provided PPE (Personal protective equipment) as required. For example, hearing protection, safety glasses and safety toe shoes.
  • Use of pallet jack or other material handling equipment as required and assigned.
  • Performs scheduled routine custodial duties that may include lifting, sweeping, removing trash and other duties necessary to maintain safe and clean areas

Requirements:

Work Experience:At least 1 year of experience in metals fabrication

Physical Demands: Frequent lifting up to 35 pounds, occasional lifting up to 75 pounds. Proper lifting techniques required.
