The Manager, Property Accounting is responsible for in-depth review and production of accounting and financial analysis and reports, with the objective of providing accurate, reliable and timely information to the various internal and external clients of the department, ensure the integrity of accounting controls, review bank reconciliations, adjustments, recovery calculations and cash management as necessary, use development, mentoring and coaching techniques to build a strong accounting team, manage performance evaluations in conjunction with HR and coordinate departmental learning.


Responsibilities:


  • Support the accounting team to ensure departmental objectives are achieved.
  • Assist in portfolio level review and completion of monthly financial results and variance analysis for management.
  • Contribute to quarterly quality assurance reviews on financial working papers.
  • Review team outputs for management and coowners including cash flows, financial statements and reporting.
  • Monitor the lease, revenue, and property accounting roles to ensure accurate monthly financials are produced.
  • Generate internal management reporting and review completion of coowner reporting.
  • Oversee lease setup and recovery models creation for newly acquired properties.
  • Complete monthly accounting allocations of property results for coownerships.
  • Assist in review of annual yearend audit working papers, property CAM statements, and rental advice notices.
  • Prepare quarterly property financial forecasts and annual budget, including revenue and recovery calculations.
  • Followup to ensure interim and yearend final billings to tenants are processed on a timely basis.
  • Assist in review portfolio reporting to ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness of information.
  • Assist in preparation of portfolio level review and reporting, to management, coowners, and auditors.
  • Assist in preparation of annual audit requirements including completion of yearend files and CAM Statements.
  • Responsible for the completion of quarterly reforecast and annual financial budgets.
  • Ensure all Internal Control Policies and Procedures are followed, including the documentation and completion of proper audit trails.
  • Identify gaps in existing policies and procedures and escalate as appropriate.

Job Qualifications:


  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Word and Outlook
  • JD Edwards (JDE) experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to work with all levels of Management
  • Strong planning, organization and time management skills
  • Effectively works under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work well with others and develop cooperative working relationships
  • Ability to lead and direct others in a team environment
  • Selfmotivated, enthusiastic, and positive attitude
  • Post-Secondary with specialization in Accounting, Business, Economics or Real Estate
  • CPA (CGA, CMA, CA) designation completed preferred
  • Minimum 4 years full cycle property accounting experience including property and recovery/lease accounting
