    The Director, Corporate Finance position will be reporting to the AVP, Finance. This position is responsible for current and forward-looking performance management of the consolidated REIT, providing thought leadership and performance analysis around the continuous evaluation of short and long-term financial objectives and the identification of opportunities for improvement. You will join a dedicated and motivated team in a central corporate role, gaining exposure to all aspects of Choice's business. The role is designed for a colleague who can manage various REIT planning processes and translate our performance trajectory into clear messaging for internal and external stakeholders.

    Responsibilities:

  • Support the REIT 3-year plan budgeting and in-year forecasting processes, including managing timelines, coordinating deliverables and being a trusted partner to the development and operational functioning teams;
  • Manage the REITs 10-year corporate model, including supporting the finance, transactions and strategy teams in analyzing the impact of different business and financial strategies;
  • Plan, oversee, review and interpret consolidated financial performance and provide analytical support to the business as required, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs), risks, and opportunities to guide decision-making and optimize resource allocation;
  • Develop short-term and long-range goals and objectives along with related plans and policies, providing financial analysis to evaluate potential investments, growth opportunities, and risk mitigation strategies;
  • Preparation of quarterly and ad hoc Senior Management and Board financial presentations and reporting packages;
  • Recommend best-in-class FP&A practices to improve existing processes and implement new technologies to support the function;
  • Support Treasury function by actively monitoring capital markets and providing financial analysis to manage capital plan;
  • Support Investor Relations function by actively monitor competitor and industry performance to help drive thought leadership around relative performance;
  • Develop strong cross-functional partnerships and relationships across the organization to support key strategic initiatives as needed;
  • Drive collaborative cultural change and awareness by building working relationships based on trust, and improving collaboration across the teams;
  • Manage business expectations, and setting priorities as appropriate;
  • Assist with ad-hoc and cross-functional projects and initiatives as required.
  • Qualifications:

    A post-secondary education in Finance or related field is required; experience working in a fast-paced environment, particularly corporate and/or real estate will be considered an asset. The preferred candidate will also have:

  • Progressive experience in a FP&A, finance or accounting role;
  • Professional Finance Designations such as CPA, CFA or MBA preferred;
  • Advanced Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to bring together and manage interactions with employees from across the organization;
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with proven ability to work well with people and deliver objectives on time and within budget;
  • Strong business acumen, with an ability to focus on continuous improvement;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills;
  • Results Oriented, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving and Negotiations skills;
  • Knowledge of GL reporting and familiarity with an ERM system;
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
