Forest Analyst with a detailed understanding of forestry practices and the ability to use analytical tools to support forest management decisions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Operating within Forsite's Alberta business unit and various project teams, you will combine forestry business knowledge and data analysis to provide focused, innovative and meaningful solutions to our clients.
This includes translating client questions into analyses that leverage available datasets, and then presenting results in practical terms that support informed decision making.
Potential project types would include forest carbon analysis/planning, timber supply analysis, management plans / scenario explorations, biomass / fibre supply strategies, economic assessments, old growth analysis, tenure transfers/sizing, timberland valuations, etc.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Postsecondary education with a degree or diploma in a relevant discipline;
- Registered or eligible to be registered with the AAFMP as an RPF an asset;
- Minimum of 3 years of directly related experience (ideally forestry analytics);
- Proficient in forest estate modeling, GIS, statistics, databases, programming (e.g. Python), data manipulation;
- Exposure to forest carbon accounting and modeling;
- Exceptional problem solving and analytical abilities;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; and
- Detailed understanding of forest management practices in Alberta is preferred.
