About the Opportunity:


Reporting to the Manager, the Secretary will work under limited supervision and have a good knowledge of office practices, procedures, and a comprehensive knowledge of divisional/departmental functions.

The Secretary provides confidential administrative/medical secretarial services to the medical staff, manager and supervisors, senior administrative and technical staff. The secretary will also provide secretarial support to the Service Chief as required. Contacts may involve discussions requiring tact and discretion.

Daily interaction (in person and telephone) with internal and external personnel to facilitate accurate patient input, transcription, coding, reports and charting management utilizing the LIS system.


About You:

We'd love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade 12 plus graduation from a recognized one year secretarial or office administration course or equivalent education/experience
  • Previous clerical or secretarial experience preferred
  • Medical terminology required
  • Transcription experience an asset
  • Experience working in a medical setting an asset
  • Demonstrated typing proficiency with a speed of 50 wpm
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Information System (Cerner Millennium) an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with patients, hospital staff, public and referral sources
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

A skills test may be administered as part of the selection process

Hours:


  • Long Assignment, Full-Time position; 70 hours biweekly
  • Beginning as soon as possible for approximately 12 months

Compensation and Incentives:

$ $22.50 hourly
