Responsibilities:
The Community Development Coordinator (CDC) is responsible for creating a supportive community within Platt's Lane Estates (PLE), under the supervision of the Associate Director, Residence Engagement.
The Community Development Coordinator will respond to identified community needs by developing, organizing and delivering social, educational, and needs-based programs for the community while promoting involvement and engagement within the community.
The Community Development Coordinator will plan and facilitate programs that meet the needs of the PLE community and will ensure that community members have the necessary support, information, documentation and resources.
The Community Development Coordinator will act as a first point of contact for all internal and external inquiries and other related policies and procedures.
The Community Development Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and managing events related to program offerings and will assist with curriculum design, implementation, continuous improvement and expansion of PLE programming.
Key Accountabilities
Responds to identified community needs by developing, organizing, and delivering social and educational, and needs-based programs for the community
Assesses the needs of a diverse community while considering the age and demographic of tenants and their families
Responds to the needs identified in PLE by developing, organizing and delivering social, educational and needs-based programs
Works with the Programming Coordinator(s) and tenants to develop large-scale, community-wide programs (e.g. Tenant Appreciation BBQ, New Tenant Meet and Greet, and the Niagara Falls Trip)
Creates a programming plan each month, in consultation with the Associate Director, Residence Engagement
Maintains a program database to review, revise, update, and evaluate current programs and ensures records are securely stored and prepares related reports and analytics as required
Maintains and updates information in PLE advertising spaces
Provides assistance to other OREP programs and initiatives as required
Works closely with the Programming Coordinators; Associate Director, Residence Engagement; Director, Facilities; Associate Director, Client Services & Recruitment; Coordinator, Western Apartments; Rental Office Clerks; and the Off-Campus Housing Office to identify and deliver key messages and educational programs for tenants
Promotes involvement and engagement within the community
Acts as a resource regarding programs and options available on campus, or seeks out appropriate information
Encourages engagement of PLE tenants by involving them in the planning of programs, and on-campus leadership and experiential learning opportunities
Understands and leverages resources available (e.g. Programming Coordinators, Associate Directors, US and other campus partners)
Manages the PLE Volunteer Council and its members, attends regular meetings and identifies community needs from a tenant perspective
Monitors the 'Platt's Lane Estates Community' Facebook group to oversee tenant communications, shares important messaging and promotes PLE programs
Communicates effectively to build awareness around upcoming events and important operational dates
Maintains and fosters regular communication with tenants, the PLE Rental Office and the Associate Director, Residence Engagement
Refers and directs tenant concerns regarding facilities and other Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) issues to the Rental Office
Collaborates with Housing & Ancillary Services Marketing team to develop a seasonal tenant newsletter to promote events and relay important information
Communicates with the Housing & Ancillary Services Marketing team to advertise upcoming events and programs within PLE utilizing various communication methods (e.g. posters, social media)
Provides support to programs conducted by fellow colleagues and campus partners by assisting, promoting, and attending these programs as required
