As proud members of IBEW local 353 and LIUNA local 183, Beacon employs experienced licensed electricians, power linemen and skilled labourers to complete both electrical and civil utility installations.

Beacon also employs a team of Professional Engineers, Engineers in Training, Project Managers, and Estimators to ensure that jobs are managed in an efficient manner and to the satisfaction of our clients.

All of our installations are inspected by the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), with whom we are in excellent standing.


Financial Controller
We are currently looking for a full time
Financial Controller.

The Controller will be responsible for all areas relating to the development and maintenance of accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.

This role requires you to be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a multitude of accounting activities and tight deadlines including but not limited to, general ledger preparation, financial reporting, and the support of budget and forecast activities.


Projected Long-Term Goal of this Position:

We currently have a Director of Finance & Human Resources and are seeking an individual to work along side him and gradually assume more responsibilities as time progresses with the intent to eventually be his successor.

Reporting to the Director of Finance & Human Resources, the Financial Controller will be responsible for:_

  • Working collaboratively with the Beacon team.
  • The execution of all accounting functions including A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory, WIP, review of invoices etc.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses in compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Preparing budgets and collaborating with department heads to develop accurate financial projections.
  • Preparing variance analyses (actual vs. budget) and coordinate investigation and resolution into discrepancies with appropriate personnel.
  • Monitoring cash flow, financial performance, and key performance indicators, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts, interoffice, and other expense accounts, including followup with outstanding unreconciled items.
  • Readiness for fraud detection and prevention.
  • Reviewing invoices prior to submission to clients for structure.
  • Coordinating and assisting the Director in managing the annual audit process, providing necessary documentation and support to third party auditors as required.
  • Support Director of Finance in providing strategic financial insights to executive leadership, contributing to business planning and growth strategies.
  • As applicable supervise and mentor finance team members, fostering professional development and a positive work environment.
  • Ensuring consistency in finance related procedures throughout all divisions of the company.
  • As part of the Finance Team, participate in monthly WIP meetings with the Director of Project Management and the Project Management Team.
  • Reconcile all jobs with Project Management monthly to ensure all jobs are being invoiced on time and all costs are being captured.
  • University degree in Business/Accounting, with a CPA designation.
  • Minimum 35 years of related experience in an accounting role.
  • Must have knowledge of Accounting Software
  • Jonas experience is preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of taxation laws and ensuring full compliance with CRA requirements.
  • Knowledge of Accounting Standards for private enterprises.
  • Effective leadership and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask
  • Able to work well under pressure and maintain a consistent pleasant and professional disposition when communicating with the public and internal staff.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel and Word required). Ability to automate Excel spreadsheets.
