At our
Woodstock Facility, we fabricate and assemble components for heavy truck and specialty vehicles.

We feature various types of welding, metal forming, saw cutting, painting, assembly departments and manufacture everything from small components to large structures, sheet metal to heavy plate.


The Weld/Fabrication Supervisor primary function is to ensure safety, quality, cost, delivery, and customer satisfaction goals are met or exceeded across all plant production operations on the afternoon shift to achieve company objectives.


The objective of the Weld Shift Leader position is to lead those employees directly reporting to them as well as dotted line in the production area(s) under their responsibility, ensuring their work areas are provided the necessary resources, materials, information and services from support areas.

This in turn enables the work area(s) to operate efficiently, and effectively thus improving safety, productivity, quality, costs, and customer satisfaction.

Standardization, where necessary, is ensured in a consistent and sustainable manner.


The Shifts:
Afternoons 3.30pm - 2.00am Monday - Thursday


Responsibilities:


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Duties within the role that they will be evaluated on)


Priorities for the Weld/Fabrication Supervisor will align with those of the broader Operations team, based on regular communications with the Production Leader and Operations Manager.

The Weld SL will be responsible for leading and developing the skillset of 10-15 welders and machinists on the afternoon shift through training development programs and hands on guidance.


Other Responsibilities include:

  • Overall responsibility for quality, productivity, delivery performance and customer satisfaction
  • Responsible for leading Team Leader's and production personnel
  • Responsible for training or overseeing training of employees in the use of equipment or production techniques.
  • Responsible for providing a safe work environment and promoting safe work habits in all employees.
  • Responsible for monitoring staffing levels ensuring proper labor complements and adjust accordingly.
  • Supervision of staff scheduling to include work assignments / rotations, employee training, employee
  • Vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, backup for absent employees, shift rotations
- and coordination of work activities with other departments.

  • Actively leads all employee performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives including activities related to: On Time Delivery, Lean Manufacturing, Health & Safety, Employee Performance, Quality, Overtime and house Keeping (5S) throughout facility
  • Responsible for ensuring all quality standards are adhered to in area of responsibility
  • Ensure all Health & Safety issues brought to the supervisor attention are addressed promptly
  • Assist staff to resolve complex operational problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality (including continuous improvement).
  • Conduct interviews, employee performance appraisals and associated skills matrix, and orientation procedures as required throughout the shop floor and coordinate with functional groups as required to provide a holistic of the person's performance.
  • Prepare production and other related reports.
  • Review and revise Time & Attendance system daily.
  • Measurement of piece parts and weldment parts both in process and as final assemblies as required.
  • Documentation of measurements, material test reports and all other deemed necessary (Initial Sample Reports, First Article Inspection Reports etc.)

Your Skills Set

  • Minimum of five years relevant experience as a Supervisor/Team Lead, in a welding manufacturing environment
  • 25 Years hands on welding experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and business acumen.
  • Broad manufacturing experience, preferably in a metal fabrication environment
  • Good knowledge of production processes, measurement & inspection procedures, production planning and control
