The Role_**

Reporting to the Program Manager, you will provide technical assistance to Project Managers to deliver capital projects. This involves preparing/completing, or reviewing/analyzing engineering design drawings, contract documents and related information for Road Capital Projects.

In this role you will_**
_:_

  • Plan, design and prepare contracts drawings and documents in compliance with current standards for the road program including the following:
  • Analyze and prepare CAD design requirements for in-house road capital projects.
  • Prepare initial and ultimate rightsofway property requirements for both acquisition and easements needs for proposed Regional infrastructure.
  • Process and analyze survey data for design plan creation, including Digital Terrain Modeling, contour, profile and cross section preparation, using Teramodel surveying software, OpenRoads design software and AutoTurn Software.
  • Manage all requirements of obtaining external agencies existing utility information.
  • Prepare communication plans for all appropriate project agencies and stakeholders as requested by the project manager.
  • Prepare draft Requests for Proposal documents, Requests for Quotations and Tender documents.
  • Participate in the evaluation of detailed proposals for procuring consultant engineering services and undertakes tender analysis for construction contracts.
  • Review Environmental Study Reports for reference in drafting terms of reference and scope of work.
  • Attend site meetings, prepares formal meetings notes/minutes and promptly distributes.
  • Assist with obtaining all approvals from external agencies, utilities and local municipalities related to capital projects.
  • Assist with the administering of contracts, monitors project budgets and tracks costs.

  • Must have a degree in Civil Engineering, a Certified Engineering Technologist diploma or related field, with a minimum of 5 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of road design practices and standards, related codes and environmental regulations, safety acts, tendering/contract processes, and contract administration.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of MicroStation CAD platform and municipal Civil Engineering practices.
  • Previous experience with OpenRoads and AutoTurn design software preferred.
  • Solid understanding and experience related to transportation systems.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office, MS Project.
  • Solid and proven project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Proven organizational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Location:

In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite.

The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
