Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is looking for an individual like you for the role of Medical Laboratory Assistant 1.

Equally comfortable working independently and as part of a team, you can develop and maintain positive working relationships with your colleagues and other healthcare professionals you may interact with.

This position at Trail South PSC works rotating 7.75 hours shifts between 0800 to 2015 Monday to Friday in a twelve-week rotation and includes working every third Saturday 7.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner.

You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of internal/external Laboratory Assistant program. Participates in continuing education and training to maintain current knowledge. Demonstrates excellent organizational, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on client service and public relations. Maintains professionalism at all times. Performs repetitive duties efficiently and accurately. Training or experience performing Electrocardiograms (ECGs).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a PSC or Community Hospital Laboratory within the last 2 years is preferred.
