    Overview:

    Planner III (Production Engineering Demand Planner) will have demonstrated they are the "technical specialist" within their field. Their area of expertise could be one or more of the following areas: production bill of material (PBOM) planning, database management, material management, overall build strategy, shipbuilding process, planning/scheduling process.

    What you will be doing:

    A Planner III (Production Engineering Demand Planner) in Design Build is responsible for the following scope:

    • Interface with Supply Chain Management (SCM) Buyers, System Responsible Engineers (SRE's), Configuration and Document Management CMDM (Team), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Team.
    • Involved in Design, Test, Implementation & Maintenance of Required-In-Yard (RIY) Database
    • Create Process Maps, SIPOCs, SOPs, Work Instructions for RIY Database & Lockout Items
    • Assignment of Installation Activities in RIY Database
    • Identification & Maintenance of Lockout Identification Process
    • Reporting of RIY Planned vs Actual Issues

    A Planner III in Design Build could also be responsible for production engineering on new construction projects. Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Design Build, the Production Engineer participates in all phases of new construction design projects from a Production Engineering perspective to improve productivity and remove waste including the development of assigned analysis and projects in the areas of ship design and shipbuilding, production engineering, build strategy development, production process development, new materials analysis, dimensional and accuracy control, and design for production.

    • Plans and performs analysis in support of program build strategy development including: hull block arrangements, outfit module arrangements, equipment and outfit module load out analysis, hull erection sequences, fabrication and assembly processes, interim product definition, dimensional and accuracy control, and supports development of ship construction schedules.
    • Plans and performs lean design and design for production (DFP) development, standards development, and training material development. Performs design for production studies and material/process analysis for new ship construction.

    What you must have:

    • A bachelor's degree in a technical field of study is preferred. Trades Certificate combined with sufficient employment experience may be considered. High School diploma is the minimum requirement.
    • 4 to 6 years' experience in planning, ship design, shipbuilding or related trade experience.

    This position will require the following competencies:

    • Experienced in Microsoft Office Products (Primarily Advanced Excel) and Power BI
    • Experienced in database management
    • Shipbuilding or Production Engineering preferred but not mandatory
    • Person who is driven, good communicator, work unsupervised & able to prioritize conflicting demand.
    • Excellent attitude and demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
    • Excellent organizational skills including the ability to maintain organization in a changing environment and under pressure.
    • Excellent judgement, reasoning, and critical thinking skills as well as tact and diplomacy.

    • Strong knowledge of shipbuilding operations with an detailed understanding of the relationship between planning, procurement, design and production.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently to develop solutions to complex technical problems.
    • Proficiency working with independent planning systems including Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
    • Proficiency working with CAD/CAM software suite including Ship Constructor (preferred) and AutoCAD.
    • Understanding of how an ERP system works and supports a large manufacturing facility.
    • Strong working relationships with Area/Trade Management, Engineering, Design, Procurement, Quality, Design Build, Master Scheduling, Program Controls and Estimating.

    Salary/Rate Range: $42.00 – $53.00 per hour
