Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Administrator - Payroll & Benefits is accountable for the full cycle of payroll processing and administration of benefits for North West Redwater Partnership (NWR).

The Administrator - Payroll & Benefits is an important member of the HR team, responsible for coordinating payroll and benefit services and providing employee support as well as leadership advice and counsel related to cost and value.


This role will be accountable for administrative activities in support of the HR team goals and be a prime focal on policies and administration on topics such as pay policies, and health and wellness related benefits.

Other projects may include leading the delivery of compliance meetings, coordination of benefit or wellness related seminars or other special projects.


Responsibilities:


  • Coordinates with internal clients to ensure the accurate and timely processing of salary and hourly payrolls, including incentive pay and year end processes;
  • Coordinates with internal clients to ensure the accurate and timely administration of health, dental and saving plan benefits are maintained;
  • Leads and executes the full cycle of base payroll and benefits for all departments;
  • Ensures payroll and benefits are administered upon onboarding, with status changes and upon offboarding;
  • Coordinates with external client providers to ensure payroll, health (including insurance coverage), dental, disability and savings plans are maintained and in compliance with relevant legislative and internal procedural requirements;
  • Coordinates the annual renewal review of health and dental benefits, make plan recommendations considering cost and value in consultation with the HR Manager and participate in associated benchmarking to assess competitiveness;
  • Coordinates the annual Savings Plan Governance Committee meetings regarding NWRs Savings Plan and liaises with service providers for any plan changes;
  • Coordinates onsite employee information sessions and/or online materials regarding health, dental and saving plans as appropriate;
  • Acts as a resource to NWR staff and leaders on policy information and interpretation as it relates to employee benefits, group savings and/or payroll processing and recommend changes as required;
  • Prepare payroll related filings and supporting documentation, such as yearend tax statements, Records of Employment, WCB returns and other statements;
  • Interfaces with service providers as prime plan administrator to resolve issues, either as brought forward from employees or as plan administrator;
  • Maintains processes to ensure taxable benefits are recorded accurately;
  • Maintains all payroll and benefits records and reporting. Follows NWR's Human Resources record management processes in preparation for record retrieval and auditing;
  • Participates in special projects as assigned. This could include but is not limited to HRIS training for employees, support of the HR team with preparation of correspondence and additional special projects as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


  • This is a fulltime role located at NWR's sturgeon refinery site;
  • Possesses 5 years of payroll & benefits work experience;
  • Postsecondary education and a payroll designation considered an asset;
  • Understands, creates and maintains a visible commitment to personal safety, as well as the safety of others; adheres to NWR's Values and Core Competencies to drive results and desired culture;
  • Prior Dayforce Ceridian experience would be ideal;
  • Previous experience in a payroll capacity experience and exposure to salaried and hourly based payroll;
  • Previous experience in benefit administration in a handson role;
  • Must have a high attention to detail and be committed to continuous improvement and seek means to improve processes and systems; uses technology/tools effectively;
