Environmental Investigations and Enforcement Branch:

This branch is the ministry lead for the environmental enforcement program. The branch provides oversight and leadership for investigations of environmental violations for potential punitive enforcement measures (e.g. prosecution), proactive sector and on-road enforcement; and forensic/intelligence services.

What can I expect to do in this role?:

  • Lead and conduct environmental investigations
  • Obtain, examine and analyze evidence (documentary, expert and samples)
  • Maintain an electronic record of investigation activities
  • Conduct interviews, execute search warrants, utilize expert witness
  • Prepare and assist with prosecutions as a Provincial Officer
  • Prepare Crown briefs and assist Crown Counsel

Investigative Knowledge and Experience:


  • You have knowledge and experience in court proceedings

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:


  • You have demonstrated analytical and evaluative skills to review evidence and facts to draw conclusions
  • You can assess and interpret findings and make recommendations on investigative results
  • You have demonstrated ability to manage multiple investigations

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:


  • You have well developed communication skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders such as witnesses, complainants and industry representatives
  • You can consolidate, discuss and present evidence with ability to explain technical and scientific evidence and information
  • You can draft written materials such as reports and briefings
  • You have strong interpersonal skills to obtain information from suspects, witnesses, complainants and others who may be unwilling or evasive
  • You can prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines
