Job Description:

This position provides administrative support to the SGS Life Science Services Operations.

The incumbent must be capable of multi-tasking to meet the departmental needs of working with laboratory managers and supervisors on a regular basis.

When needed, this position will also provide functional support in the Sample Receipt/Entry area. This position operates under limited supervision.

  • Monitoring WFGEN and KANBAN orders.
  • Initiating a requisition for a Purchase Order in BOSS/Oracle based on the information provided in the WFGEN/KANBAN/Subcontract request, including CapEx.
  • Receiving supplies and delivering them into appropriate locations.
  • Maintaining the KANBAN area and warehouse in wellorganized order.
  • Updating Procurement system and WFGEN with received supplies
  • Informing Procurement and Quality Assurance team for new supplier/vendor setup and participating in new supplier approval process
  • Responsible with contacting suppliers for backorder updates and for supplies which do not conform to standards.
  • Responsible for outbound shipments of client samples, rejected materials (returns), and otherwise as needed. Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certification required.
  • Handle Broker and CBSA related communication and resolve any issues.
  • Performing any other duties, specific projects and responsibilities as assigned or required in a timely and professional manner

Qualifications:


  • Minimum of a community college Diploma
  • Over one year's experience in an administrative or purchasing role.
  • Prior technical experience in a chemistry or biochemistry related role would be preferred.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions / Standard Operating Procedures in a safe, accurate and timely manner.

  • Must be highly organized and able to work effectively and efficiently in a demanding environment with frequently changing priorities.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
  • Ability to work well with others & independently.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Ensures full compliance with the company's Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.
  • Appropriate attitude, constant vigilance, attention to detail and following Training SOP for training and training records.
