We are looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented, and dedicated Authorized Inspector (AI) focused on ensuring airworthiness standards are fulfilled when authorizing production engine releases.

The AI is responsible for conducting Quality audits on all documentation relating to finished production engines prior to packaging and shipment, to ensure conformance to engineering requirements, quality standards and applicable Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) regulatory requirements are met.

AI certifies that the production engines have been manufactured and tested in accordance with approved design data, quality requirements, and applicable standards of airworthiness and thus, are in appropriate condition for safe operation.


  • Plans, organizes, and conducts final audit of manufactured production engines and "returned" engines to ensure Build, Test, and Packaging processes and procedures have been properly executed prior to their release.
  • Confirms proper configuration of engine via Change Orders (CO) and related documentation (e.g. Services Bulletin listing)
  • Conducts audits on all data results from engine tests, as well as audits eCATES to ensure all information is entered appropriately, and that all stamps applied by qualified individual
  • Verifies, if there are any Change Orders (CO) that these have been affected to the engine, that Service Bulletins have been approved and published correctly, before releasing the engine.
  • Verifies and updates the SAP system to ensure that the engine is not shipped with any open or outstanding items, which may also include information on any documents that may delay shipment (e.g. Waiting Parts, Temporary Assembly Procedures (TATP), WO, AHS, Consolidated Pick List, QRA, RFN, QN, etc.)
  • Closes out all SAP transactions prior to releasing the engine
  • Verifies that correct, accurate information and markings are on the engine's identification /data plate (e.g. delivery date, the engine serial number, engine type marking, etc.)
  • Conducts final validation that all activities and documentation are complete, accurate and closedout (e.g. engine tests are done, data plate is accurate, engine logbook completed & signed, ARC TCCA "Form One" is physically applied to engine package, etc.), prior to authorizing the engine release and delivery to P&WC's distribution center for final customer destination.
  • Certifies that P&WC production engines have been inspected and tested as required and conforms to applicable Engineering and Quality requirements by signing on behalf of P&WC, specific documents such as the Authorized Release Certificate (ARC) TCCA Form One as well as the Engine Logbook document.
  • May need to investigate any issues relating to the engine parts (e.g. duplication, wrong Part Number (P/N), wrong Serial Number (S/N), wrong
  • Prepares, produces, and maintains the Engine Logbook for each production engine audited, which contains various key elements, including for example, a Serial Part Lists, a Life Material Card, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, Engine Logbook entries, Visual Inspection Results, etc.,
  • Maintain Engine History Record Files (EHRF), which contains the aforementioned Engine Logbook, in addition to other critical data information, such as engine test data, copy of the closed QRAs, etc., along with any additional customer requirements
  • As an advisory role, supports the assembly line by providing feedback on quality issues arising from inspections conducted on engines to ensure compliance with airworthiness standards as well as continuous improvement efforts.
  • May be required to participate in P&WC's new engine programs' certification process
  • May be called on to support other P&WC engine centers / organization for various concerns, issues, as required.
  • May be called on to support escapes and investigations on processes or parts with relevant stakeholders to evaluate and identify the root cause of the nonconformity and may be required to execute on the corrective actions prescribed, as required.
  • Develops and maintains processes and procedures to support engine certification in accordance with TCCA standards
  • May be asked to contribute on special assignments and projects

Work Environment

Required

  • College diploma in aviation, or bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality Assurance or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of two years inspection experience in aeronautical parts manufacturing
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office tools

Assets

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • System knowledge of SAP, Enovia PLM, documentum, and eCATES
  • Working knowledge of TCCA regula
